BEST EXPERIENCES OF MY LIFE! – I went to Rwanda twice with Adrien, at Beyond the Hills. I went solo in 2018 FOR 2 Weeks and took my son in 2020 as covid started for a… read more week. I’m going back again this year (2026). Rwanda is unforgetable and I feel do connected to it: the people, the air, the terrain, the wildlife and the culture! Traveling throughout the country is 100% safe, even for single women tourists! Rwandan laws are in effect to prevent taking advantage of tourists so they aren’t allowed to hike up prices. As for safety, I’ve actually never felt safer as a woman, knowing that Rwanda jails anyone harming a woman! Of course, Adrien is always available to guide me to all the amazing places to visit! I LOVE AKAGERA NATIONAL PARK! A MUST SEE EVERY VISIT! Day and night safaris a must. Staying overnight there is a animal orchestra you cant miss! Hanging bird nests in the trees at the hotel was a surprise. I loved the bats in the trees at LAKE Kivu and the boat trip over to the hot springs there. Not sure they are still available but still nice to see local fisherman and their boats. Kigali is mezmerizing! Make sure to go to markets. I always go for the Genocide Memorial in April for personal reasons but I highly recommend for anyone interested in seeing what Reconciliation is really about! Rwanda does not ignore or hide its past but make sure they are not forgotten and not repeated. Gone is the division between made up colonial tribes- everyone is proud to be Rwandan now! It’s a beautiful thing. ♡ Don’t forget to go see the monkeys and if you are lucky, visit Adriens childhood home. Talk to the locals and make friends!
Treat Rwandas kindly when bargaining in the markets..they can’t take advance of you so drive your bargains but still add 5000+ to your agreed price and tip everywhere. ♡Please be generous with your money in Rwanda. You go because it is extremely inexpensive for what is offered- tourism is gift that should go both ways-please share some of your saving$ with locals.♡
*I’ll add new photos from my 2026 trip in April

EXPLORING BEAUTIFUL RWANDA – We have just completed an amazing 10 day trip in beautiful Rwanda. On a friend’s recommendation, we booked with BEYOND THE HILLS, a small privately owned company. Adrien… read more was extremely attentive from the beginning when we first made contact, responding immediately to inquiries, even on a Sunday ! Throughout our adventure, Adrien was always on hand to respond to any of our needs.
Together with his excellent driver, Damacene, we visited several different regions of this beautiful, lush country. Starting in Volcanoes Natl Park, we trekked to see the gorillas ( a magical experience !) and the following day we trekked again to see the golden monkeys. This too was a wonderful experience and offered an opportunity to enjoy the beautiful landscape. We moved on to Nyungwe Natl Park where we went in hot pursuit of the chimpanzees. It took a while to track them down in the jungle, but was well worth the effort. Finally we travelled to Akagera Natl Park and stayed in a lovely bush camp. Although we have been on several safaris, we had never seen so many rhinos!
Adrien accompanied us as well on several more unusual visits including the orphanage where he had spent 15 years, two border crossings with the Congo where we witnessed people constantly going back and forth, learning how to pick tea in the plantations with the experts. (they’ll never hire us for sure !!), and a community visit to a local potter and her family. We were enchanted by their 3 year old daughter dancing for us with charm and grace !!
Adrien was always available, cheerful and helpful in every way. We couldn’t recommend his services more highly !
NB: Strongly recommend using the services of the porters on the various treks – they were invaluable on the steep, super muddy paths !!

Fabulous trip to Rwanda – Adrien and his team helped us plan our trip including booking hotels and activities and providing drivers. We were a group of 14 and they were always on time,… read more patient and catered to everyone’s needs. Adrien went out of his way to make sure all reservations were as they should be. We not only appreciated the personalized service but Adrien and his team are delightful and knowledgeable.
The highlights of our trip include the hike to the gorillas, our time with the gorillas and our private tour at the Dian Fossey Museum.
